Jo Malone's newest collection takes inspiration from the London Rain which let's face it we know plenty about..

This beautiful collection features four colognes each representing rain at various times of the day.

Rain & Angelica

Glassy beads of dew, awakening a London park at dawn. A revitalising scent, enlivened with herbaceous angelica and juicy lime on an earthy base of vetiver. Aqueous and clear.

My thoughts 

I absolutely adore the freshness of dawn and Rain & Angelica captures its juicy freshness with the zesty lime and greenness of the angelica. As the day goes on the scent dries to a more earthy greenness. much like a London Park!

I am liking this cologne a lot and it really is perfect for Spring. It is light and fresh and classy. In my head I picture a woman wearing a crisp white shirt, a pencil skirt, a statement bag and flat pumps to navigate the bustling early morning London streets whilst heading to work.

Of course I have to mention the gorgeous bottle too which has that all important shelf appeal. 

You will never think of rain in the same way.

Wisteria & Violet 

A soft morning shower, soaking purple wisteria cascading over London stone walls. Infused with the wet-petal scent of violets and water lily. Rain-washed and intoxicating.

White Jasmine & Mint 

An afternoon cloudburst, drenching gardens exuberant with jasmine, orange flower and rose. Eccentric with its dash of scrambling wild mint. Enchanting and refreshing.

Black Cedarwood & Juniper

Midnight rain. Seductive with the carnal touch of cumin and chilli leaves. Dark with cedarwood. Humid with moss. Modern and urban.

Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne - Perfume Sample Saturday

This is the gorgeously floral and stunningly pretty in pink three page ad campaign for the new Jo Malone scent - Peony & Blush Suede Cologne.

Jo Malone say

My thoughts

Sweet, light and unmistakably floral this is a beautiful and appealing, feminine scent. Opening with a short burst of the fruity freshness of red apple, the sweet florals  soon come to the fore to gently blend and rest with the warmth that I am guessing is the hint of suede. Delicate, sweet and yet clean. I can see this being a very successful addition to the Jo Malone cologne collection.

A perfect transition to Autumn.

Jo Malone Sugar and Spice Collection - Limited Edition

The Sugar and Spice Collection - Five deliciously Gourmand sounding and tempting fragrances inspired by Afternoon Tea delicacies..Of course I had to share this news with you! I haven't tried these yet but I intend to get to a Jo Malone counter very soon. I also think they have the potential to make a nice gift idea for Mother's Day.

Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne

When I visited the new John Lewis Beauty Hall I took a little trip to the brand new Jo Malone shop contained inside to see what new colognes had been launched. A friendly staff member quickly took me under her wing and showed me around. I mentioned that I had had English Pear and Freesia last year and she suggested I might like Orange Blossom.

Described as -

A shimmering garden oasis. Clementine flower sparkles over a heart of orange blossom and water lily, with warm undertones of orris and balsamic vetiver. This scent is a pure delight.

Now one of the things I have had a much better understanding of since writing about scents is what notes appeal to me and I knew that Orange Blossom is one of those notes so I was happy to give it a try.

She popped a sample bottle into a cute mini Jo Malone bag and off I went...

My thoughts - 

Orange Blossom is a deliciously fresh and fruity scent in which the initial spray is reminiscent of unpeeling a satsuma orange. I actually love that smell as it evokes many a happy childhood Christmas when we would have them in the house. Of course now they are far more readily available all year round! 

As the cologne settles, it is a soft floral (this will be the Iris, from the Orris) with a very, very subtle spicy scent. Extremely wearable and personally I feel that this is one best worn in the Summer.

My Spring Perfume

You may remember I recently wrote about this from Jo Malone.

Well I was very kindly sent these two scents

Ever since I have received them, I have worn them every day, they are just beautiful. Worn alone they smell fabulous, combined amazing!

The first time I applied it, the postman had just delivered them and I couldn't wait to have a spray. My husband came home and straight away asked what the delightful smell was, if he likes it I am half way there ;-)

Earl Grey and Cucumber Cologne is a really unusual scent but hugely appealing. I like the addition of musk

Sweet Lemon is fresh (fruity) but certainly not overpowering. I am not a fan of fruity scents and this manages to keep the right side of Lemon for me.

As I was bought English Pear and Freesia for Christmas (someone must have been reading my blog..) I am completely set up for Spring.

I cannot wait to try Sweet Milk Cologne as I think it would appeal to my scent buds!

I am really tempted by these, I love the concept of adding milk or lemon to your 'tea' and cannot wait to visit Jo Malone to try them out

Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne

I must admit before getting a sample of the latest Cologne English Pear & Freesia I had heard a lot of good things about Jo Malone products but had never actually smelt anything in the collection. When I was on Honeymoon in San Francisco I visited the newly opened Westfield Centre but was unable to get near the counter it was so busy!. This cologne had a lot to live up to so I was pleased to find I was not disappointed.

Pear and Freesia is described as the essence of Autumn,capturing the scent of just-ripe pears gathered from an English orchard.

Key notes in this scent are -

King William Pear: A classic, crisp pear variety with a fruity fresh first impression that mellows as the addition of quince in the heart of the scent adds warmth and depth.


White Freesia: Loved for its exquisitely fragrant flowers, the scent of freesia is freshly green with a surprisingly soft depth.

Patchouli: An intensely woody, autumnal base note with a sweet balsamic scent and spicy, earthy undertones.


English Pear & Freesia is everything I imagined and more. I fell in love with it the moment I sprayed it on. The scent is delicate, fresh, elegant and classy. This is exactly what I expected from Jo Malone. I cannot wait to try some other colognes now and will be heading to Selfridges as soon as possible.
