Purple shadow/liner against my green eyes is one of my favourite combinations - it is incredibly flattering. The purple enhances the whites of the eyes, makes the eyes pop and increases the depth of the green.

January 2012 GlossyBox - The Valentine's Edition

Yesterday the postman knocked on the door to deliver the latest Glossybox. This one was delayed a little as it was billed as the Valentine's Edition...

The box this month is a cute hot pink.

As always GlossyBox pays attention to the detail - 

Of course this all means nothing if the content's don't live up to expectation, however I am more than happy with the content's of my box.

What Is Inside -

Clarins - Extra Firming Day Cream - This is a rather generous 15ml sample and is apparently suitable for all skin types. I have already used this cream and it has left my skin feeling super soft. It is nice and rich but be aware it is heavily scented. This didn't have a little seal over the opening.

Clarins - Extra Firming Night Cream - Again, a generous 15ml sample (the type you would get in bonus gift packs when you make multiple purchases). This has a lighter, fresher scent and also leaves the skin feeling beautifully moistured. I think it is great that the day and night cream were in the box, brands often develop products to work in conjunction with each other and you get a good idea of how they would suit your skin with each other. This came sealed.

Clarins is an excellent inclusion in the box, I am going through a little love affair with the brand so was delighted to be able to try these.

Murad - Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Dewy Finish (5ml)

Murad is a brand that I have heard of but never tried any of their products. I am a big fan of using a primer under my foundation so look forward to giving this oil free primer a whirl.

FAB (First Aid Beauty) - Gentle Body Wash

This body wash is fragrance free, has a creamy texture and is free of Parabens and harsh chemicals. 

I haven't tried anything from FAB before so I think it is great that in this GlossyBox there are two brands that I am able to try for the very first time and both are generic enough to be suitable for my skin type.

Eyeko - Skinny Eyeliner in Emerald Green (other shades were sent out)

I have been really impressed with the products that I have tried from Eyeko previously,  although I haven't purchased anything since their relaunch and redesign. This item is full size and worth £9.50. I have green eyes and think this shade will make an excellent addition to my makeup bag. It is a really pretty metallic green shade, brighter than the Stila liner that was included in the October box.

I will use all of these products and as a box I think it is really rather fab,  fulfilling the brief of what it set out to do, the only thing I would say is that I cannot see what the link between Valentine's and this month's GlossyBox is apart from a heart sticker and a heart sweet! :-)

Eyeko London Lips Lip Gloss

I am a huge fan of glosses and when this was included in my goodie bag from the Eyeko Birthday Party, I couldn't wait to try it. Mayfair is described as a creamy nude which sums it up perfectly.

This has fast become one of my favourites and most used as it is so wearable - it comes in a cute, small easy to apply tube. The gloss has a pleasant bubblegum scent, though not overly strong, and provides an exceptionally pretty natural colour with a gorgeous non ultra sticky pout.

Eyeko Cream With Extra Glow

Every so often comes along a product that you simply want to rave and shout from the rooftops about how great it is and this is one of those ..

Described as a moisturiser, highlighter and eye cream in one, this product has made it onto my must have list. 

The outer packaging is cute and distinctive. The actual tub is pink and girlie but I would personally prefer a tube or something similar that I could put in my handbag if necessary.

It is a pink silvery colour cream, which has no real scent. I find it to be of a very soft creamy texture that blends in amazingly well, I apply it with my fingertips. It does dry quite quickly but once it is there it is long lasting.

This is a fabulous highlighter, I put it on my cheek bones and it gives an amazing sheen and brightness that I have become hooked on! I feel just stunning and radiant when I turn and the light catches it.

You can apply it wherever you would like a lovely sheen - brow and cheek bones, collarbone, even your shins.

I must admit I haven't used it as a moisturiser as I think it would be quite shiny (I have normal/combination) but I would imagine it could be used mixed with your foundation if you feel your skin is looking a little dull. I also haven't tried it as an eye cream.

This is an absolute steal at £8 for 28ml when compared to similar products on the market and I urge you to get this... suitable for all skin tones.

Eyeko Magic Mascara Review

This mascara was included in my goody bag which I received at the Eyeko event

I love mascaras so was itching to try this one 3 in 1 mascara - with promises of extra volume, luxe length and super curl!

This mascara comes in very pretty packaging. Nice shimmery purple with diamond effect flowers.

The wand is described as outsized but it is not as big or as thick as the Revlon Grow Luscious wand. 

I liked this mascara, not too wet or too dry to apply although it does dry quickly so if you need to add layers you will need to do it quickly - my personal opinion is that if you want natural looking long lashes then this is the mascara for you.

It didn't manage to pick up all of my lashes and this is after 3/4 swipes on my lashes - with 2 it provides long lashes, pretty for a natural look. I found it a little bit clumpy. I have to admit after a couple of uses I wasn't overwhelmed by this product but seeing the pictures it isn't that bad either! It is also no good if you cry...black streaks down the face!

Celebrating 10 years of Eyeko Event

I was delighted to be invited to the Eyeko event. Whilst it was pouring with rain outside, we were being showered inside with cocktails, canapés and cupcakes to celebrate Eyeko being 10 years old.

Amongst all the great people,  I met the lovely Catherine (PerfectlyPolished), and here we are enjoying some wonderful cocktails - mine is a Cherry Bellini.

And before we got on to the serious business of makeup we had some time to enjoy some delicious finger food...

At the event there were fun activites such as Tarot reading, as well as the chance to have your nails done and have a make over using Eyeko products. A real Beauty Blogger's treat!

We then met the owners - the brains and beauty behind Eyeko - the utterly gorgeous Nina pictured below and Max (but he wanted to stay behind the camera!).

We had a sneeky peek of some new Eyeko products.  I am really impressed, they are very exciting, great colours and pigments and at such great affordable prices too!

My favourite were the blushers, packaged in a cute box, flick open once and you get the blush, flick open another lid and you have a mirror and brush.

I look forward to becoming better acquainted with Eyeko products as they look fab and I am sure the new products will be featuring on my blog very soon.....
