Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gelée Milk Cleanser Review

Lazy cleansing for me equates to no water needed. Yes wipes have a place (usually used on holidays in my case), but actually I don't really want to compromise on good skincare routines if I can help it. But I get it, we all have lazy days where we want to flop into bed with little effort, that is where new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gelée Milk Cleanser comes in...

Neutrogena say

Neutrogena Hydro Boost® Gelée Milk Cleanser is an innovative cleanser combining the lightness of a gel with the efficacy of a make-up remover milk. The combination of Neutrogena® cleansing technology, hydrating agent and Hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in skin, help the formula to protect the skin barrier, boost hydration and help lock it in.

Boosts hydration
No rinse formula
Removes makeup
Leaves skin touchably supple

My thoughts

This pump action cleanser has a lovely, fresh and fruity scent. The product comes in gelee form and feels really gentle on the skin as it effectively and easily wipes away and removes makeup including mascara. It does a great job of cleansing, I was surprised that it left skin feeling tacky to the touch but actually this only lasted a minute or two and then just like magic..skin just felt beautifully soft.

A great, no rinse formula cleanser.

Elemis Hydra-Boost Sensitive Day Cream Review

Ever since I had my son three months ago my scalp psoriasis has got progressively worse and spread to quite a few areas of my face (blame the hormones). My skin has also generally felt a bit dry (it's normally normal/combination) and sensitive and has been looking dull. I was on the lookout for a moisturiser I could use that wouldn't irritate the affected skin, keep it moisturised and make it look and feel good once again. Step forward Elemis Hydra-Boost Sensitive Day Cream which seemed on paper to tick all the boxes.

Elemis say

This calming, anti-oxidant rich, fragrance-free day cream provides vital hydration to comfort sensitive skin.
Hyaluronic Acid locks in essential moisture, whilst extracts of Mirabilis Jalapa and Orange Blossom milk ensure skin is soothed, moisturised and comforted.

Soothing Mirabilis Jalapa protects against irritants that cause redness.

Calming Orange Blossom Milk protects and soothes with inflammation-reducing anti-oxidants.

Hyaluronic Acid supports the skin’s barrier, helping to keep it deeply hydrated.

And because ELEMIS understands that every detail counts, this cream is a fragrance-free product.

My thoughts

I am not going to beat about the bush, this moisturiser is fantastic. The texture is a nice liquid cream. It is truly fragrance free, usually when a product claims it is fragrance free it has an awful scent but I struggled to detect a scent at all. Huge thumbs up.

The formula is gentle, I don't experience any stinging. I find it soothing and wonderfully hydrating. The dry psoriasis skin is well moisturised which means that there are no dry patches for my foundation to cling too. Skin feels beautifully soft and comfortable. It provides a great base for my foundation and makeup and my skin looks bright and healthy. I couldn't ask for more.

Excellent product that lives up to its claims.

Elemis Hydra-Boost Sensitive Day Cream 50ml costs £39

Avene Eau Thermale Water Spray - Holiday Essential

Turkey was hot, really hot! Most days it was over 35ºC with not a cloud in the sky... luckily for me I had the best cooling companion.. no not an ice cold slushie, but this mist spray from Avene.

Avene Eau Thermale Water Spray, I bought the travel sized 50ml version to try it out and finally find out what all the fuss is about. I am happy to say that it lived up to the hype. I found it indispensable, one of my holiday essentials beside the pool and on the beach.

Avene say

Essential soothing care product for sensitive, hypersensitive, allergic and irritated skin.
Soothing action, sunburn, after anti-acne treatment, nappy rash, various forms of irritations, razor burn, after hair removal.
Comforting and refreshing action, to complete skin cleansing, to set make-up, after outdoor activity, in summer when travelling.

My thoughts

As a multi-purpose product I used this as a toner after cleansing, day and night. I also popped it in the fridge overnight so I could use it out and about during the day. On the first day of being in the Sun I could feel the skin on my face feeling tight and this wonder spray sorted it out immediately. One fine mist spritz later (it really is a super fine mist) and my skin felt super soft and comfortable, I was hooked.

Cooling, soothing and refreshing this works a treat.

A must have in your travel bag.

Avene Eau Thermale Water Spray is available in 50ml (£3.15), 150ml and 300ml cans.

Childs Farm Caked In Mud! Hair & Body Wash & Hand Wash For Mucky Mitts - Review

I don't know about your child(ren) but my six year old boy is an absolute nightmare to get in the bath or to get him to wash his hands. It wasn't always this way, when he was younger he loved it but now I guess he would be much rather doing other things. However this aversion is ironic considering he now gets muckier than ever...

I have always used paraben free and SLS free bath products for my boy ever since he was born, however I must admit I relaxed with the hand wash once he was old enough to use it.  Inside however I wished that I knew of a product that was SLS free because I prefer not to use it where possible.

Enter two fabulous products from Childs Farm which has made my life so much easier and made washing his hands and bath time generally more fun..no more resistance. Which from my point of view is ace.

First up is Childs Farm Hand Wash For Mucky Mitts

Childs Farm say

Childs Farm hand wash contains grapefruit and organic tea tree essential oil to cut through grime and gently moisturise.

- Suitable for eczema prone skin
- For newborns & upwards
- Dermatologically tested and approved.
- Paediatrician approved.
- Over 98% natural ingredients
- NO parabens
- NO SLS’s
- NO mineral oils
- NO artificial colours
- Contains organic essential oils
- Tested on children

My thoughts

I read out the description 'for mucky mitts' and this put a smile on his face. I told him that this hand wash was just for him and he asked to smell it. Mmmm he said. Since then he has taken himself happily off to the bathroom and washes his hands all by himself. It has a delicious and refreshing grapefruit scent which I adore too and secretly I want to use it too!

No more nagging needed. He loves that the hand wash is especially for him. I love the fact that it contains no nasties.

Win.Win.

My thoughts
Aaron loved looking at the drawing on the bottle and laughed when I read out the product's name. He really, really loved the scent and wanted to jump in the bath immediately to try it!

The scent is a really lovely orange smell and the body wash left his skin nice and soft. As it was quite warm that day I left his hair to dry naturally and it looked smooth, silky and shiny. It does say that if it gets into eyes their won't be tears.. and there wasn't. Love at first use.

A firm favourite in this house, he now asks to have baths!

Superdrug Simply Pure Range for Sensitive Skin

I was sent the Simply Pure range from Superdrug for review purposes - as it is for sensitive skin I asked one of my oldest friends (we have been friends since we were 5!), Vic to review it for me - Incidentally Vic is a very talented photographer and craft maker, you can see what she does by clicking here.

When Bettina handed me these Simply Pure products for sensitive skin to review, I had to double-check with her that they were Superdrug! I haven’t used any Superdrug products for quite a few years and am very impressed with the look of these four items. The clean, simple packaging really suits the products’ ‘simple’ ethos and looks classy at the same time.

The four products in question are:

Calming Cleanser
Gentle Facial Wash
Refreshing Toner
SPF15 Face Cream

They all have that unfragranced ‘fragrance’! It’s hard to describe, but I always find that fragrance-free products have that lovely fresh, distant baby-like scent. This is perfect for me as I don’t like heavy scents in facial products.

The cleanser is non-greasy and most certainly removed lots of grime from the day. I then used the facial wash, which I was pleased to find was quite a thick, clear gel. It felt refreshing on the skin and didn’t leave my skin feeling as tight as other facial washes have in the past. After the facial wash, I used the toner. I don’t always use toner as part of my skincare routine, but this again, felt refreshing and allowed me to leave putting on the moisturiser longer... I always find I have to rush and moisturise after washing my face! So, the face cream... A definite plus is the SPF15. I’d been using a moisturiser with SPF12, so a little higher for the summer is certainly a good thing. The cream itself is non-greasy and quite thick, which I liked.

I’ve been using these products for nearly a month now and haven’t had any adverse reactions at all and my skin is pretty sensitive! I’d definitely recommend all of Superdrug’s Simply Pure products. They do the job at an affordable price and look good on your bathroom shelf too!

Thanks so much Vic for this review, glad you liked the products.

Superdrug Simply Pure products are paraben free, hypoallergenic, dermatologically approved and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. All products listed cost £2.59 each
