Chapped Lips - Soothing & Repairing
For the last two weeks my immune system seems to have taken a hit and one of the results has been severely chapped lips. I have never known or had anything like it. I have been barely able to open my mouth, it has felt so tight and dry. My lips have had thick skin peeling off of them and anything that goes near them seems to have stuck like glue. The pain was horrid.
I was desperate for a solution, I tried lanolin based products, my usual balms and nothing worked to improve them. I drunk copious amounts of water in an attempt to rehydrate myself and it all seemed to no avail. Finally, I picked up a little pot of Vaseline Lip Therapy with Aloe Vera and this has been my chapped lips saviour. Instantly soothing it soon got to work softening and repairing my lips back to their usual smooth and luscious self. I also gently buffed my lips to remove the dry skin with a wet flannel (don't pick the skin as you run the risk of infection!)
Vaseline say
Protects and relieves dry and chapped lips, while locking in moisture to help keep them healthy
Instantly softens and soothes dry lips
Locks in moisture to help lips recover from discomfort
Contains aloe, known to calms and soothe dry irritated skin
Made with triple-purified Vaseline® Petroleum Jelly
It took about 3 days but I finally got there. My lips are pretty much back to normal now thank goodness.

"Get The Look" Painting The Town Red With Vaseline

The lovely team at Vaseline recently invited me to take part in a challenge to create a look using the newest Vaseline tin "Paint The Town " Red Lip Tint.. for a chance to win 2 fabulous Lulu Guinness Lip Clutch bags for me AND one reader of Beautyswot.com.
Readers of BeautySwot.com will know that I am a huge fan of the Vaseline tins, I have had a pot/tin of the original version beside my bed to apply to my lips last thing at night for as long as I can remember. In my bag I keep one of the fab and delicious limited edition versions too. The latest limited edition has a pretty red tint and a yummy scent to boot.
For my glamorous night out look I opted for the classic red lips and sultry black lined eyes combination. Simple but effective, this look makes me feel incredibly confident, feminine and sexy... Look out guys!
I teamed the black liner with lashings of mascara (used original vaseline to set my eyebrows), kept my blush to a minimum using a neutral shade and added Benefit's High Beam Highlighter for added radiance across my cheek bones. I applied a gorgeous red lipstick and for extra va va voom glossiness applied Vaseline Paint The Town over the top for a beautiful pout.
To complete the look I teamed it with a red roses neck chain, tight black top and trousers. I really think the ultimate accessory for this look would be the Lulu Guinness Clutch, then I would be ready to Paint The Town Red!!
What do you think, do you think I should win??
*Fingers crossed

Vaseline Lip Therapy Paint The Town Red Lip Tint - Limited Edition
The latest Vaseline Lip Therapy is a red lip tint called Paint The Town. It claims to have a spiced berry flavour and combining moisturisation and a subtle red tint.
It also warns on tin that the product stains and to wash your hands after... which worried me a little before use! However, it is a fab limited edition, it smells so good, a sweet berry scent that bears more than a passing to Wine Gums sweets. It feels moisturising, is glossy and despite looking quite scarily red in the tin translates to just a hint of colour on the lips.
Wonderful

Vaseline Lip Therapy Pink Bubbly - Review
When I learned that Vaseline Lip Therapy were launching a new limited edition product in the shape of Pink Bubbly I knew that I would have to have it in my Vaseline collection.
I didn't buy it straight away as I still had a fair amount of Creme Brulee left in the tin but now that it is suitably depleted I picked up a tin and I have not been disappointed.
I have to admit that I don't suffer from chapped lips often so just use Vaseline nightly to keep my lips lovely and soft on waking and it has done the trick for years. However Pink Bubbly deserves to be kept in my handbag and used daily as it is so nice which you will see from the picture below. It has a lovely fizzy fruity scent which is really appealing.
The tin design in pink and black is classy and the vaseline has a soft pink hue to it. Although it says on the tin that it delicately tints I find that the hint of colour is not noticeable on my lips at all. However, what Pink Bubbly does have is a very subtle shimmer which when the light hits my lips makes them look slightly fuller and very pretty and glossy This is why it seems a shame to just use it at bedtime..

Vaseline Limited Edition Lip Therapy in Crème Brûlée - Review
Vaseline Limited Edition Lip Therapy in Crème Brûlée - £2.99 for 20g
Following this post I received a tin of the limited edition Vaseline (pictured above).
It smells gorgeous, like sweet vanilla and is creamy feeling, quite similar in texture to the cocoa butter version that I already own. If you like sweet scents then you will definitely like this.
Grab a tin before they disappear off the shelves!

Vaseline Limited Edition Lip Therapy in Crème Brûlée
I love my little tins of Vaseline, so I am really excited to hear that Vaseline have created a limited edition version in Crème brûlée. As Crème brûlée is one of my favourite desserts I cannot wait to try this..although I might just want to eat my lips if it tastes as good as the real thing!.
Don't worry though, it will still have all the moisturising benefits of petroleum jelly to leave your lips lovely and soft.
Vaseline Lip Therapy in Crème brûlée is available in Selfridges from the 27th October 2011 and nationwide from 2nd November RRP £2.99

A Couple of Winter Skincare Essentials That Are Under £5!
As Summer has faded and Autumn has approached I have found myself reaching out for a couple of my skincare winter favourites. I buy these products year after year as they are cheap and they work.
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream (Concentrated) - Retails for around £3.59 for 50ml
A little goes a long way with this glycerin enriched formula, you only need a tiny amount to get super soft hands. I love the scent, which I find strangely comforting but if you are not a fan of scents, it disappears soon after application. The cream comes out clear and has a thick gel consistency but pleasingly it is non greasy. One of my favourite hand creams and now one of my husband's too. My husband has terribly dry, sore, chapped hands in winter and this works instantly for him, as the packaging is of a smart design he doesn't mind using it....
Vaseline Lip Therapy Original - Retails for under £2
I apply this every night on my lips as soon as the weather starts to get chilly and I wake up with beautifully soft, smooth lips. It comes in a 20g tin and it lasts ages. I have used Vaseline (petroleum jelly) for years and I don't think I will ever stop having a tin in the house. It really is a household essential.
Last year I discovered the wonders of Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa which is lovely and I alternate this with the original version. On my to buy list this year is the Rosy Lips version, apparently it tints the lips as well as providing the usual moisture.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa!
I have been trying quite a few balms this winter for the blog and have been really enjoying them, so much so that I vowed not to go back to my tried, tested and beloved Vaseline in a tin....
When I found myself in Boots perusing the balms section for yet another pretty tin I was surprised to find that Vaseline had added to the range!
I picked up the Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter, this has all the benefits of traditional Vaseline but the added benefit of the moisturising cocoa butter. The scent is unmistakeably the sweetness of cocoa butter and inevitably I fell in love with it the minute the tin was opened. I hasten to add I opened it once I had purchased it!
If you are a fan of cocoa butter you will love this!
The scientific bit - Vaseline helps protect your lips by maintaining its natural moisture barrier which forms a protective shield between the skin and the elements.
Lip Therapy now comes in 4 ranges - Original, Cocoa Butter, Rose and Almond Oil (next on my list) and Aloe Vera. Available in tins and sticks. They remain in their classic packaging.
Lip Therapy tins are priced just £1.29 for a 20g tin and are available from the usual stockists of Boots, Superdrug and Supermarkets.
