Black Nail Polish With Gold Glitter - Bling Bling! - NOTD

Today's Nails Of The Day are a favourite combo of mine.. black nail polish with gold glitter. I am using Models Own Gun Grey as the base which is not quite black but dark enough (I want to try a similar look with a really glossy rich black too!) and for the gold glitter I have used the ArtStix Duo in Cloud Drops - Dew Drops, a mix of hexagons, dots and fine glitter.

Today's Nails Of The Day. Utopia is a delicate nude shade with an ever so slight nod to lilac, a beautiful and muted, milky shade that is just so damn wearable.

I used two coats to achieve opacity.

Models Own Speckled Eggs Collection - Dove

Today's Nails Of The Day come courtesy of the new Models Own Speckled Eggs Collection. Pictured is Dove a pastel pink. Inspired by ornate egg shells, they also remind me of one of Easter favourites - Cadbury Mini Eggs.

I love the speckled effect, it looks even more amazing in the Sun. The formula is quite sheer so you will need at least two coats to achieve opacity for maximum effect and to bring out the pinkness.

Models Own Artstix Nail Polish Duo in Ember Red - Nails Of The Day

Models Own Artstix are my favourite glitter art polishes. One end is the nail colour to paint your nails and the other end the glitter to cover it, design wise (to paraphase Louis Walsh from the X Factor) you can make it your own!

Today I am wearing Ember Red - made up of Hot Red nail polish and Ember Glow glitter. The polish is gorgeous on its own, a wonderfully rich and dark blood red. The glitter is made up of red dots, golden and bronze hexagons that twinkle in the sunlight. This particular combination looks like Autumn in a bottle, the glitter pieces like fallen leaves. Very pretty indeed.

The polish formula is fantastic, it applies so smoothly and the brush wide enough (on my nails) to fill the whole nail in one sweep. I like the brush handle as it is nice and narrow so easy to hold for my little hands. Perfect and having a duo product at £6 a real bargain.

The shade is EXACTLY the same colour of my bedroom wall growing up in my teens, so I have much affection for it :) I love purple shades and this is a subtle and creamy, pretty lilac. Perfect going into Spring.

Glitter & Bows - Nail Art Nails Of The Day

These Nail Art Nail Tattoos dropped through the letterbox on Saturday and I couldn't wait to give them a go.. My hands and nails are quite small so I mostly avoid nail art as it would be far too fiddly so these sticker tattoos for nails are ideal (although I still can only really use them on my thumb nails).

Using the Models Own Artstix Duo in Cloud Drops I painted my base colour in the gorgeous cream shade Cloud 9. I waited for the polish to dry completely before peeling the super cute bows from the backing and simply sticking them onto my thumb nails. You will need to apply a top coat so they don't lift off but it really is as simple as..

I completed my nail art by painting the tips of my fingers with the glitter side of the Artstix Duo - Dew Drops the effect is so pretty as the light catches the gold glitter strips but I had trouble capturing its sparkling beauty with my camera. I think it would also look fab with a strip of fine glitter but this was my Glitter & Bows Nail Art

Models Own Colour Lip-Stix In Ravishing Red

Wearing red lipstick is one of those things that I love the idea of but tend to shy away from as it is quite a bold statement..or at least it can be. However when I tried Models Own Colour Lip-Stix in Ravishing Red I was delighted to find a red that suited me and felt comfortable to wear during the day as well as taking it into the evening.

In the now popular lip crayon packaging, this chunky stick is easy to apply with its crayon style nib. Itgoes on smoothly and evenly in just one application thanks to it being super pigmented. This is a delicious tomato red with a creamy, matte/satin formula finish. What really impressed me however was its staying power, it remained on when I was drinking and eating and faded evenly long after most lipsticks would have disappeared. Very impressive for just £5.

Limited Edition Impulse and Models Own Kits & A Blogger Challenge

It has been a long time since I last used a body spray and of course it had to be Impulse. I had a few of their fragrances over my teenage years., one of my favourites was the golden/bronze bottle of Musk. I am sure we all remember the changing rooms and how they would be filled with the essence of Impulse..

Well when information came through about some Limited Edition Impulse kits containing Models Own polishes to wear with it and a nail file all for a bargainous £4, I had to find out more and revisit my younger days!

First of all, the fragrances and the packaging have undergone a transformation, the sprays now have a twist top instead of a lid and the designs are appealing and attractive. The fragrances are bang up to date and smell gorgeous.

Very, Very Pink features a deep blend of bitter orange and white wood, resulting in a musky citrus scent this spray comes with Models Own dusky pink shade Utopia.

Very Pink features a sparkling blend of pink grapefruit, roses and a base of vanilla, I was not at all surprised to find this was my favourite, delicious. This pack includes Models Own shade Gun Grey for a statement nail.

Sweet Smile is an exotic, fun and fruity scent featuring pear and Jasmine, with undertones of sandalwood and amber. This had to be paired with Models Own shade Coral Reef!

The Blogger Challenge

Impulse challenged bloggers to personalise our own bottle of Impulse and create some nail art inspired by the Impulse Collection.

Here is the nail art I designed. I wanted the nail art to reflect my personality, I am not into fuss and intricacy. I want to look good but like to keep things practical :-) 

With Coral Reef/Sweet Smile I chose to add gold and bronze diamontes. I think these shades are complimentary to the coral and look amazing as it reflects in the exotic reflection of the Sun. Bring on the carnival!

With Gun Grey/Very Pink I added a couple of coats of Models Own Sea Spray (from the Blue Spray Artstix Duo) A very simple effect but so impressive. A real statement for nails that sparkles giving a nod to the sparkly nature of the fragrance Spray. The silver strands and chunks look incredible against the dark polish, so hard to capture its beauty in a picture.

With Very, Very Pink I added a single large pink diamonte flower, this scent oozes femininity and softness and I wanted the nail art to reflect this. I picture a girl with long, wavy hair left to dry naturally and flowy clothing. Effortless style.

My Personally Designed Impulse Bottle 

As I said before I like things to be kept simple. I hate overly fussy designs, clean chic and classy is what I look for, so I am hoping that with this in mind my design reflects this.

I love lace and I absolutely adore diamonds so I went with a black lace bow and adorned the bottle with diamontes flowers in a simple design through the centre with golden drops on the sides.

Part of a collection of 5 for this Autumn/Winter, the bottles come complete with velvet lids and the polish themselves are described as intensely inky pigmented colours each with an extraordinary 2D finish. Matte yet sparkly at the same time, each shade applies glossy and dries down giving a multi-faceted effect that can be seen but not felt!

Personally I would have loved if they had stayed glossy as they looked so pretty when wet! Drying to a matte finish, they remain sparkly and yet are pretty smooth to touch.  I needed three coats to achieve opacity and depth of colour that I was looking for.

Nails Of The Day - Models Own Artstix Duo in Cloud Drops

The new Models Own Artstix Duo's were delivered to my door yesterday and I have to say I fell in love instantly. I am not a huge fan of glitters or nail art/effects so it says a lot that I couldn't wait to try these gorgeous sets.

The one pictured above is Cloud Drops - one side is the base colour - Cloud 9 - a wonderful cream coloured shade that looks great worn alone and the other is Dew Drops - a gold glitter, gold hexagons and dots. It is so pretty in the sunshine don't you think?
