Dove Style+Care Range - New!

I am very excited about the new Dove Style + Care range. I was recently invited to try out the products with a styling session with Celebrity Stylist and Dove Hair Ambassador Christian Wood. Christian decided to give me a Jennifer Aniston straight sleek do which I was delighted with because if you know me you will know that Jennifer is my hair icon...

On my already dried hair that he was going to be restyling he used the Heat Protect Spray, the Frizz Free Shine Cream Serum in preparation for the blowdry. He finished my style by applying the Nourishing Dry Ends Serum to the ends of my hair for that ultra smooth and sleek finish. I was incredibly impressed.. I thought my hair WAS sleek and smooth when I arrived but Christian took it to a whole other level! When I picked up my son from school the other mums loved my new do and actually thought I had had it cut and coloured!!

Before I wrote about the products however (as always) I wanted to try out the products for myself, were they easy to use and could I achieve sleek smooth perfection at home.. and the answer? A big fat yes!

Dove are well known for their body care range but I have a feeling this hair collection is going to be very popular indeed. There are four products in this affordable collection and each product costs less than £5 - They all smell so nice, slightly fresh but sweetie like.

Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo £4.59

Can be used on clean hair to add extra oomph and volume to the roots. I have been using it to revive and refresh my hair when I have been needing to go out but not had any time to wash and style my hair. It smells amazing and has none of the white powder effect that comes from other dry shampoos. It is made with aluminium starch and absorbs dirt and oil brilliantly. A fabulous time saving product.

Dove Style+Care Heat Protect Spray £4.59

Using a hairdryer and following this with a hair straightener makes a heat protection spray a must. This one protects hair from heat damage up to 230 degrees. Conditioning agents and silicone provide shine whilst protecting hair. Apply to towel dried hair.

Dove Style+Care Frizz Free Shine Cream £4.59

This is my favourite product in the collection. The cream is so light and doesn't weigh hair down meaning it won't look lank the next day. It also does a great job in preventing frizz and fluff when it is damp outside. Nourishing for the hair but providing the shine of a serum it is smoothing and softening.

Dove Style+Care Nourishing Dry Ends Serum £4.59

I like to use this serum like Christian did, just on the ends of my hair for extra sharp sleekness. It reduces flyaways and makes the ends look suitably healthy (I need a haircut!) Perfect handbag product that can be applied at anytime.

The result - Smooth, sleek, glossy and healthy looking hair. I am fan.

Dove Style+Care range is available from major supermarkets and chemists.

Batiste Launch New Batiste Dry Shampoo Variant - Lace

I love a bit of Batiste Dry Shampoo every so often when I just do not have time to do the whole wash and style routine (my hair takes absolutely ages to dry). I own a few Batiste variants, my favourite ones being Blush and the XXL Volume

I read recently that sales of dry shampoo have rocketed and apparently it is estimated that 1 in 4 women has a can on the shelf! One of the reasons of its popularity is that it gives hair body and strength, helping to create the big hair look that has become so popular with celebs. It is no wonder that Batiste are regularly launching new variants in their popular dry shampoo range.

Lace is the latest variant which is described as seductive and elegant.

The new scent offers base notes of white musk, cedarwood and sandalwood which are complimented by top notes of citrus fruits, nutmeg and pink pepper. The heart of the fragrance contains stylish floral tones of rose, orchid and iris with jasmine and ylang-ylang.

Lace comes in a cute lace design bottle. I really like the scent, which to me is beautiful and sophisticated, just like an expensive perfume. I find that it fades to a delightful and subtle rose scent. As I am huge fan of rose scents this is just up my street. It works perfectly by boosting volume and banishing oil exactly like it says it will do. Spraying from 30cm away like it advises it barely leaves any trace of powder, but if you do get any powder residue it disappears by working your fingers through your hair followed by brushing.

Another winner from the Batiste brand.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Lace costs £2.99 for 200ml

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Blush

I love Batiste Dry Shampoo and Blush is another variety from the range.

It works in exactly the same way as the others..hold can 30cm from hair, spray at roots, massage with fingertips, wait a couple of minutes and brush out - easy!

Blush is fab, it smells lightly floral and so feminine. The scent is created from the following floral notes - Red Hibiscus, Freesia, Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Peony and Lily. I love its scent and it leaves my hair smelling very nice indeed, shiny and clean looking. Ideal for those times when I need to leave the house in a hurry.

Batiste Blush is available in 150ml and 50ml (handbag size) from your usual Batiste stockists.

Batiste Dry Shampoo- Review

I have always been a traditionalist and dismissed dry shampoo as for the lazy and something I would never, ever try..but there has been a real buzz about it recently so I felt compelled to find out what all the fuss has been about.

I thought dry shampoo was like a talc that I poured all over my hair so was surprised to find it was available in a handy and easy to use spray can.

Silver Shimmer - £2.99 for 150mls

I made sure my hair was looking a bit greasy and in need of a wash before trying this out... (luckily I wasn't going anywhere..) and then I just took the can to my hair and sprayed, probably a bit too much as when I saw the reflection in my mirror I thought I had ages 40 years - I had grey hair!

A quick brush through  (to remove the excess) and I had a glamorous hint of shimmer to my hair, it was back to its usual colour and looked full of life with body and bounce. It smelt amazing and fresh, a nice perfume type scent.

I must have over sprayed though as my can no longer works :-(

This version is ideal for party season although next time I may try the Gold Shimmer.

Original On The Go - £1.49 for 50mls

This handy little can is just perfect for the handbag and when you need to freshen up when out and about..from office to party! I like the original version as the scent is so delicate it is barely detectable (it is a citrus scent) but does exactly what it promises on the can.

Fresh - £2.30 for 150mls

This scent is described as forest fresh and is another great scented product. I loved the way it left my hair smelling fabulous. Just remember to protect your clothing if you are wearing dark colours as it covers it all. I wore a black top and it took a while to remove the traces of spray over it... really easy to use, spray and then with your fingers work product through the hair, use a soft brush to remove excess if necessary.

So, to sum up Batiste dry shampoo is a quick, convenient way to instantly transform your hair until the next wash.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is available from Boots and Superdrug stores including their on-line stores.

Do you use dry shampoo - which is your favourite?
Or will you now try some ?

Batiste Vintage Tea Party

When an invitation to the Batiste Vintage Tea Party to celebrate the launch of the new Batiste Brit popped into my in-box I just knew I simply had to be there!

Firstly, I am a new convert and fan of Batiste Dry Shampoo - see my post coming up later this week regarding it. Secondly, readers of BeautySwot will know that I simple adore Afternoon Tea as a favourite past-time of mine..

This Tea Party was held in conjunction with the Vintage Patisserie and what a civilised and exquisite affair it was.

Held in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Brick Lane, stepping inside 93 East Feet we were transported to a bygone era with traditional music playing and bunting displayed.

On arrival I was presented with a personalised chocolate cake -

I can confirm it was delicious and a lovely touch.

The array of cakes, scones and sandwiches which we feasted on.

The food was delectable and presented wonderfully.

As well as serving tea we were treated to champagne in a cup

The ladies from the Vintage Patisserie were friendly and attended to our every need and even left us some stockings to take home.

The opportunity to get my hair styled proved too good to resist.

And a box of dressing up clothes - feather boas, hats, gloves, can you spot all the pearls by the mirror?

Our goodie bags to take home...

The Batiste Brit Cans

Batiste Brit is the latest addition to the Batiste Dy Shampoo range. It is the unisex version, appealing to men too and comes in a fabulous, ultra cool British style can which I am sure any man would be happy to use too... It is described as having a quintessentially British fragrance.

I think it has a great fresh scent, and it really does the job, instantly transforming my greasy locks to clean, bouncy, wonderful smelling hair that is full of life. It is ideal in-between washes or when you have to be out quickly and don't have time to wash and style your hair.

Batiste Brit is available now exclusively to Superdrug priced £2.09 for 150ml

A fantastic and glamorous way to spend an afternoon. Thank you very much for the invitation Batiste!

I highly recommend the Vintage Patisserie who put on a truly vintage style party, with food comparable to a top London hotel.
