Nails Of The Day - OPI A Roll In The Hague

Today's nails are OPI's A Roll in the Hague from the 2012 Holland Collection *

This looks like a really bright orange shade in the bottle but on the nails comes out as a gorgeous orange with red undertones. I think this also makes an ideal pedi colour and on a dull day like today is the perfect Summer pick-me-up.

NOTD - OPI - Big Apple Red

Today's Nails Of The Day feature quite possibly one of the most gorgeous red shades ever - OPI Big Apple Red.

Big Apple Red is a true glossy red, a real classic. The colour you see in the bottle is exactly the shade you will get when applied. One coat achieves opacity but in this photo I have used two coats.

Big Apple Red has long been a favourite of my mum, suiting her cool toned skin but as you can see from this photo it is just as flattering on my warmer, yellow toned skin. This is a must for red polish fans.

Nails Of The Day (NOTD) - OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark

Today's Nails Of The Day come courtesy of OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark.

I absolutely LOVE this shade for Autumn/Winter. I have been lusting after a shade exactly like this for a little while and this hits all the right notes. Dark and vampy, this is a stunning purple/black and it is so glossy!

Two coats will achieve opacity.

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark is definitely one that should appear in every nail polish lover's collection!

Party Time! - Girls With Attitude & OPI

I was given the opportunity to try some products from Girls With Attitude. I must admit I was a little apprehensive as I am not really good with fiddly things and Nail Art, but when they arrived through the letterbox I found them too pretty to resist!

As I have tiny little hands and nails, these kits don't fit me so I let my sister try them out. The pack comes with 24 assorted size nails so should fit most people.

I was disappointed I couldn't wear them myself as they looked fantastic, but I loved admiring my sister's nails once they were done.

Lace Me Up Nails - £5

The kit is complete with the necessary nail  glue and they looked really natural when on - very, very nice!

My sister didn't take long to apply them and said it was very easy.. The only thing that she did do was 'round' them up a little as she wasn't overly keen on the squareness of them. The photo above shows them 'rounded' a little.

I did have a little play with the nail stickers though...

Nail Art Crystals - £3

These are little rhinestones in assorted sizes (1 sheet) and come pre -glued so you all need to do is place on top of dry nail polish and then seal with a top coat.

Again, these were easy to use and I loved the end result.

You can be as creative or as conservative as you want...

Underneath the nail art I am wearing OPI's Purple with Purpose - I think it sets it off nicely.

NOTD - OPI - Dulce De Leche

I picked up Dulce De Leche from OPI at Olympia Beauty. It looked so pretty in the bottle and just leapt up out of the counter at me (and there were lots of shades to choose from!). I cannot resist names that just well sound enticing, sweet and food related - This means Caramel Milk in Spanish :-)

It is a beautiful creamy nude colour, ever so slightly pink in tone. Applies smoothly and leaves a nice glossy finish.

I think it is really wearable,  I was looking for a shade just like this to wear and I am so glad I purchased this at the show as I can imagine wearing it a lot this winter.

This was achieved in 2 coats.

Olympia Beauty Show/Face Mapping at Dermalogica

This was my first visit to a beauty show and after a hard week I was happy to dispense with the toddler for the day and enjoy some grown up company (my beautiful little sister) and perhaps learn about some new brands...

It was busy, very busy. I didn't need to walk, I was carried by the crowds. Every coffee shop was heaving. Can you tell refreshments were at the top of my agenda?

I think the show, as it is a trade show, is aimed very much at the beauticians and therapists in the industry. Nails featured heavily, whether it was colour or technique. Equipment, treatments and tanning were well represented and make-up artists were catered for. So, plenty for the professional and perhaps less so for the beauty blogger but no matter it was an experience.

So what was there for me? I noticed that the newer brands that are launching are using buzz words such as natural and organic. Not a bad thing in my opinion. I definitely think that this is shaping the industry now. Consumers are seeking out natural products more and more.

Well, I politely declined offers of spray tans and the ladies with their huge brushes to give me the ultimate glow and found my way to the OPI stand where I picked up two nail polishes - Dulce Du Leche - a gorgeous neutral colour for winter for the bargain price of £5.50 and one of their Designer ranges - Glow - again at a bargain price of £8.50!

I left the Dermalogica stand till last and waited patiently in the queue for the free face mapping service.

What is face mapping ?

The concept is that your heath is written all over your face and using Chinese Diagnosis - the belief that the skin provides an outside view of your body's internal health - A therapist maps your face with concerns like fine lines, milia, dehydration, redness/sensitivity etc

It is an analysis of the skin by scrutinising it inch by inch using both a magnifying lamp and sense of touch.   The face and neck having 14 different zones, for example Zone 7 is the nose - A reddened nose can indicate high blood pressure or early signs of Rosacea and so on. The therapist will look at each zone and then prescribe products to deal with your skin's outer problems...

Once this is done, they have a prescription sheet recommending what products you should use, again the idea being that you only use what your skin needs.

Now I have never had this done (they do recommend it as they promote themselves as a prescriptive brand) but I have used the odd Dermalogica product, in fact my favourite mask is the one from their youth range - Clean Start - Ready, Set, Scrub. I was interested therefore to see what happens during this process and what they made of my skin.

It was explained to me that usually they would spend 20 minutes or so in a Salon doing this but this was a 5 minute one special for the show. Obviously it wasn't as in depth.

I was told I had really good skin - I think it is generally good, the odd break out but nothing overly concerning. I look after my skin, cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day. I use a scrub/exfoliator twice a week and drink plenty and (usually) eat quite well.  My hydration was good and the only major concern was my oily/shine t zone. Pretty much spot on I would say. Although if I was picky I would say that I am starting to be concerned about the fine lines around my eyes but have taken steps to rectify that.

I was prescribed the following to use

Precleanse
Daily Microfoliant
Special Cleansing Gel
Skin Smoothing Cream
Intensive Eye Repair

I will try these out and let you know how I get on with them in a later post.
