Tesco Finest Earl Grey Tea

No tea selection, or as I like to call it - tea wardrobe, is complete without the inclusion of some Earl Grey. Mention Earl Grey and people think of a product steeped in tradition, a drink for afternoon tea, classy and with a regal background, if a little posh! Apparently, however the origins of Earl Grey (before it got its iconic name) was that of a black tea flavoured with bergamot to imitate the expensive Chinese teas of the time. Served by Lady Grey at her parties, she approached a tea company to make it available to a wider audience...and so Earl Grey was born.

Back to modern day..

I fancied a tea that I could drink and enjoy in the afternoon without adding milk (I only add milk to a straight black tea) and so I purchased a box of Tesco Finest Fragrant & Refreshing Earl Grey.

Tesco say

A delicate blend of Indonesian black tea infused with the flavour of bergamot orange rind for a distinctive hint of citrus.

Add a splash of milk or a slice of lemon

My thoughts

Leaving the tea bag in water for 2/3 minutes is ample time for the wonderful fragrant  flavour to be imparted. Any longer and I find it too strong, if a little bitter, which for me is not pleasant to drink. This has the perfect balance of a smokey yet delightfully fragrant tea...pleasingly its aroma matches its taste.
