Cargo Cosmetics HD Translucent Powder - Review
Regular readers of BeautySwot.com know that I am not a fan of using powder. I much prefer liquid foundations and I don't set my makeup with powder after as I prefer a slightly dewy radiant finish. I had one finishing powder that I loved that was from Clinique but it was discontinued and I didn't look for another.. So when this new powder from Cargo Cosmetics landed on my desk I wasn't entirely enthusiastic until I read the description and couldn't wait to put it to the test!
HD Translucent Powder
Specially created for high definition filming, this silky, weightless formula utilises high resolution technology to diffuse lines, pores and imperfections in a few quick sweeps. The compact packaging features a unique fine mesh filter that dispenses the perfect amount of powder per-shake, allowing you to best conserve product and avoid over-application or spillage in your makeup bag.
My thoughts
I have fallen head over heels for this powder, it is so soft and smooth to apply that it is virtually undetectable when on. It does exactly as it promises. It gives my skin a soft focus and flawless appearance, smoothing lines and hiding pores. My skin remains looking fresh and bright and it keeps any shine away all day. On a day I didn't wear it and my foundation looked a bit ropey I applied some powder and it refreshed it all. Love, love, love.
Who knew I would love a powder so much!

Benefit How To Look The Best At Everything - Light
I have mentioned a few times that I am a fan of the Benefit Kits, they make great gifts and also they provide an excellent introduction to products within the brand. What I love is that the kits are really well thought out with the items included in them, meaning that you are likely to use everything included in them and the packaging is fun to boot.
Benefit have the How To Look The Best At Everything kits - (Flawless Complexion MakeUp Kit) in 3 shades - Light, Medium and Dark.
Packaged like a book, you flip it open where you will find the mini size products, a mirror and a handy step by step guide on how to use the products.
Inside -
- The POREfessional PRO balm to minimise the appearance of pores 7.5ml
- Hello flawless oxygen wow “cheers to me” champagne brightening makeup 7ml
- Boi-ing 01 & 02 industrial-strength concealer ( mix to achieve your perfect shade) 2 x1.5g
- “hello flawless!” “me vain?” champagne custom powder cover-up 4g
I have already reviewed three of the items that are contained in the kit, the reviews of which you can read by clicking on the links below.
Porefessional
Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup
Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer
The product that was new to me was the Hello Flawless "Me,vain?" Powder in Champagne (custom powder cover up with SPF15) which I am glad that I have now discovered. As a finishing powder this is pretty fabulous, so light to be almost undetectable and yet it provides a subtle matte finish that keeps shine/oil at bay. I like it a lot.
Used together the kit does provide a perfectly flawless appearance, I do rate the foundation very highly. I love the minis, they are perfect for weekend's away, I do like the book style packaging but to be honest I would probably have ditched it except for the fact that the powder cannot be removed to be stored separately.

What's Inside My January 2013 GlossyBox
My GlossyBox was delivered sometime yesterday but as I was out all day I have just opened the box and as January is the traditional month for Detox, yes you guessed it the theme is DETOX.
Billed as the Detox box, it is designed to provide you with all the necessary tools to hide the excesses of the holiday season and the Sleepless New Year's night. The Detox box will help you look and feel your best for a successful start into the New Year.
The Contents
First up a rather sweet GlossyBox sleep mask, this is a bonus product but I have many a need for this!
BM Beauty - Dewy Perfection Finishing Powder 1g (4g is £8)
Claims - A translucent powder with a 100% natural mineral formula. Use on its own to create a dewy finish, under foundation to diminsh fine lines and blemishes, over foundation for an airbrushed finished that keeps your base in place all day. Can also be used as a highlighter on cheeks and brow bones.
I have been using Clinique's Gentle Light Powder Glow (sadly discontinued) lots recently as I love the flawless finish and staying power it gives me, this sounds very similar so I am looking forward to seeing how this compares.
Eco-BOUTIQUE - Body Lotion With Aloe Leaf and Green Tea 30ml (50ml as part of gift set £8.50)
Description - The delicate scent of mimosa and extracts of organic green tea and aloe leaf create a soothing body lotion to give smooth, hydrated skin.
This smells really nice. The scent is similar to cucumber, very fresh. I like the fact that it is paraben free. I will be using this sample.
MONU - Micro Exfoliant 30ml (100ml is £14.50)
Claims - This poweful dual-action microdermabrasion delivers instant radiant skin, refining the skin's texture, reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines. This instant pick-me-up with papaya enzymes and Shea butter provides an immediate healthy 'new skin' effect. Use 2-3 times a week if you have oily or congested skin. Once a week for acneic, dry or mature skin.
After the huge success of Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant that was in a previous box and which I now love, I am very much looking forward to trying this out and once again making a comparison..
Great tip on the bottle - If exfoliating regularly, use sunscreen to help protect your skin.
Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes 3.5ml (15ml is £57)
Claims - Immediate hydration that firms and awakens the delicate eye area.
Quite like the idea of firming and awakening my eye area, will let you know how I find this product!
SANCTUARY SPA - Active Reverse Facial - 30 Day Thermal Transformation (2 sachets, Peptide Transformation Serum 3.5ml and Thermal Rose Clay Mask 7ml) Full Size £27.50
Claims - Reveal smoother, glowing, more youthful skin with our 30 day Thermal Transformation Mask.
Now this is a disappointment..I love the idea of the claims and the product but sadly you don't get a 30 day supply :-( The sachet is just one use but it does promise that you can see instant results of skin looking brighter & tauter, noticeably reducing 'crepey' skin after the first use.
I am going to give this a whirl on Friday, watch out for the Sachet Review on Sunday to find out what I think of it.
My thoughts
No full size product, no make up, no perfume at first glance I was a little underwhelmed...however when I actually took a proper look at the contents and read what they were for, I realised that actually in terms of samples and mix of products this was an excellent box (just a shame that there was not one full size product though!). It is not all that often that I will keep and actually try all of the products but on this occasion, I most definitely will.
What do you think? Was this a good box? What did you receive in your box?
