A Trip Down Perfume Memory Lane

I usually have quite a few perfumes on the go, I believe it is called a perfume wardobe, a scent to suit my mood and event.. However, the amount I owned was verging on the ridiculous so I decided to stop asking for perfumes and resisted the urge to go out and buy the latest release in an attempt to reign it in.

My taste in perfume has come a long way since I was given my very first one - I cannot remember what age I was when I received it but it was most probably early senior school - Charlie Blue - anyone else remember this?

And then my first purchase, a Saturday trip to Boots with school friends and I fell in love with this -

And then when I was at University I went through a phase of loving everything from Estee Lauder - Beautiful, Pleasures,  Dazzling Gold  and from Lancome - Tresor - which I would get loads of compliments on and still love to this day. Moving on to Boss (Boss Woman), Ralph Lauren (Romance) Donna Karan (Chaos) Ghost and Valentino..naming just a few!

One of my all time favourites and guaranteed man puller - The Iconic Perfume from Jean Paul Gaultier - I love this but men don't seem to be such a fan of this...Irony ??

To more recent favourites which have been rose based - Stella McCartney and Paul Smith's Rose and on to Chloe and Folie Folie.

To what is on my dressing table today...

The oldest in my collection is Dolce and Gabbana's The One

This was given to me by my sister when my son was born and I absolutely love this one - To keep it in good condition I have kept it in the box (in the dark) so that it is not spoiled by sunlight.

The fragrance features top notes of mandarin and peach that leads into a heart note of jasmine and ends with base notes of vanilla, amber and musk.

pureDKNY A Drop Of Vanilla

This was bought for me by my husband for Valentine's this year. I love this as an everyday perfume as it doesn't make me sneeze (which a lot of perfumes do) and would go so far as to say this is one I would purchase over and over again!

Characterised by a drop of vanilla in water as its signature note. It also includes a dew-drop petal accord, lotus flower, Bulgarian rose, jasmine, freesia, orchid, white amber and sandalwood.

Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret

I was given this to me by my parent's as a gift for my 4th Wedding Anniversary this year - A gorgeous perfume that I love wearing for evening and I love that it is fresh but strong, a real statement.

The fragrance features top notes of Winter lemon, cranberry and green tea leaf accord, heart notes of Jasmine sambac, white peony and aquatic flowers and base notes of blond woods, white musk and patchouli.

That was interesting.. I can see that there does seem to be a common theme to my favourite scents ....

What perfumes are you currently wearing ?

  1. Flower by Kenzo. I've worn it for 6 years now and nothing comes close. Funnily enough, he released 3 miniatures in russian dolls last year. One of them was Flower, featured inside a little Japanese themed doll named "Kimiko". Which happens to be my daughter's middle name. I searched high and low to get my hands on one of these and couldn't get one anywhere.

If anyone knows where I can get one of these I would be HUGELY grateful! It seems like fate to me!

  2. I am a devotee of Guerlain fragrances, I use Aqua Allegoria during the day and summer and L'Instant at night or for a sophisticated touch. I love L'Heure Bleue and Jardins de Bagatelle as well...very "femme fatale"...

  4. I always wear Boudoir, by Vivienne Westwood. It was her first perfume and I've worn it since it came out in 1998! It's perfect for me, and in 12 years I've never found a fragrance I love more.

  5. I have worn Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme Eau De Parfum since 1995 and I never wear anything else. How boring of me, especially since as a beauty journalist I get sent all the new fragrances.

  6. I'm really unfaithful when it fragrance, but my current love is Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. I sometimes wear Love by B or Coco Mademoiselle too, and having recently tried Thierry Mugler Womanity, I think that might be next on the list.

As a teen I was devoted to Les Belles de Ricci. Totally gutted when it got discontinued.

  8. What a great idea to take a trip down perfume memory lane! I do remember Charlie only too well. I loved Charlie Red for years and was a faithful follower. I then moved on to So!. Do you remember that? That was followed by Tesor which I used for many years. After trying a few others but having trouble fiunding a signature scent I then discovered Cerutti 1881 which was a huge hit with the guys so I still have a bottle hidden away. My fave scents are now Calvin Klein's Euphoria during the day as it is light and fresh and Gucci Guilty by night as it is a stonger scent which makes me feel confident and sexy!
