Training - Flash Fiction

This week's 100 word story based on the following picture prompt

Training Room

The delegates filled the room, name badges in place, chatter ringing through the air. With one eye on the person they were talking to, the other on the centre table, they were eager to down a coffee and devour a mini pastry or two. Despite it being free, no one dared be the first however, but as soon as someone made their move, they would all follow, swooping in like birds of prey.

Betty had no such qualms, she boldly approached the table and filled her plate. Perhaps today’s training on Confidence was superfluous to her needs.

  1. Haha, not going to lie, I am always like Betty - if there's a buffet, I'm first up! :-)

  2. I always say, it's not the person who takes the last slice of cake who's to blame, but the one who takes the second last. No. Wait, their dilemma is caused by the one before that. And the one before that. The fault must lie with the person who takes the first slice

  4. Only way to make sure you get the good stuff is to be first in line. Go Betty.

  6. Dear Bettina,

Someone had to be first and obviously, Betty was it. Nicely done.

  7. Oh! I'm always Betty. After years of being polite, I've found it doesn't pay when it comes to the snack table.
